Lisa Kudrow (her birth name is Lisa Valerie Kudrow-Stern) was born on born July 30, 1963, in Encino, California, United States. She is an actress, best known for her role in the television sitcom "Friends", where she played the role of Phoebe Buffay.
Lisa Kudrow comes from a Jewish family who emigrated from Belarus. Her mother is Nedra Stern, a travel agent, and Dr. Lee Kudrow, a physician. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York. It was believed she will follow the footsteps of her father. For eight years she worked with her father but eventually she began acting, inspired to perform by comedian Jon Lovitz, one of her brother's friends. She started as an anchor and reporter.
Lisa Kudrow first role was in the sitcom "Mad About You" (1992). This role led to a starring role on NBC sitcom "Friends" (1994). She portrays Phoebe Buffay, an eccentric massage therapist and musician. Her co-stars are Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. For her performance in "Friends" she won an Emmy award in 1998 and she was nominated for other important awards like the Golden Globe (1996). She and her co-stars are the highest paid TV actresses of all time. Lisa Kudrow made her debut on the big screen in 1997, when she stared with Mira Sorvino in "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion". She was also casted in "P.S. I Love You"(2007), alongside with Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler and Gina Gershon.
