Gemma Arterton born Gemma Christina Arterton, on 12 January 1986, in Gravesend, Kent, England, is an actress. She is best known for staring in films like "Quantum of Solace", "Clash of the Titans" or "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time".
Gemma Arterton is the daughter of Sally-Anne and Barry Arterton. She was born with polydactyly, a congenital physical anomaly that involves having more finger or toes. In her case she had six fingers on each hand. Her parents divorced when she was five. She has a younger sister named Hannah, born in 1989. She and her younger sister were raised by their single mother. She began taking act courses in school and she obtained a full grant at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Gemma Arterton's first paid role was while she was still in school, in the film "Capturing Mary". Her film debut was in 2007 in the movie "St Trinian's". Sienna Miller competed for this role. In 2008 she stars in the James Bond film, "Quantum of Solace". The interesting thing is that she didn't consider herself hot enough for this film. She also appeared in the blockbuster "Clash of the Titans", the remake of the movie from 1981. That was one of her favorite movies, and although the remake isn't that similar to the original, she was very excited to star in that movie. She also starred in the movie "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time", opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. She had to change a lot of things for this movie. She had a personal trainer, had to use hair extensions, worked on her tan and went to the gym. After this she didn't consider herself more beautiful because it wasn't really her.
