Emmanuelle Grey Rossum, better known as Emmy Rossum, (born September 12, 1986) is a Golden Globe-nominated American actress and singer-songwriter. She is probably most well known for her leading roles in the films The Day After Tomorrow, Poseidon and The Phantom of the Opera. In 2006, Rossum appeared in Poseidon, Wolfgang Petersen's high-budget remake of the disaster film The Poseidon Adventure. She plays Jennifer Ramsey, the daughter of Kurt Russell's character who is described as a 19-year-old heroine because she is not the damsel in distress, and is strong in all situations. She also appeared as Juliet in a 2006 Williamstown Theatre Festival Production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
