Anastacia The Beginnings
Anastacia is born in Chicago on 17 september 1973 and grows in New York in a family of artists: her mother is an Broadway actress , her father is a singer who exhibits himself in the premises of the East Coast. She has an older sister, Shawn, and an autistic brother, Brian. The professions of her parents helped her to soon discover her talent for the show, in particular music and the dance.
Her adolescence has a difficult beginning: at 13 years she discovers of being ill of a disease that hits the intestine and she is forces to operate. At 14 years the parents separate themselves and she moves with her mother in the West Side of Manhattan. Here thanks to the diploma of the Professional Children School she began to practice on the voice thanks to the CD of Elton John of the mother. Her exceptional vocalize and her powerfull voice are the reason of her “Freak of nature” nickname ( that it will become the title of her second album).
The first steps of Anastacia as a singer is in the New York club “1018”, that she attends with her sister and that leads her to know a house music and the dance freestyle. Her MTV Club approaches opens the door to dance in some video (Everybody get up and Twist and shout of the Salt-N-Pepa), a producer the famous one and it asks to them if besides dancing she knows also to sing. But the record houses hesitate at the beginning, or because they do not know like dealing a girl white woman with “the black” voice or because Anastacia not fold to the wish of the producers they want to make her sing POP or hip hop music because these styles are easier to sell. But she chooses well her style, a mix of soul, POP and rock (that she will be said sprock, Soul in the voice, POP in the witnesses and Rock “in the guitars” (that is in the musical base)).
In the 1993 future piece of her album Not That Kind) for the O.G.Pierce producer os to Los Angeles in order to record more the One piece chance (, but to the recording it does not follow some contracted record and Anastacia returns to New York rather pessimist regarding possibilities in the world of music.
The fortunate year will be 1998, when her manager Lisa pushes her to participate into the “The Cut”, a program of MTV for research of new talents. She sings Not that kind and she exceeds 150 contenders very, entering in the top ten. Her voice triggers an immediate public enthusiasm and the future colleagues (Elton praises her, while Michael Jackson them telephones the same evening in order to compliment her). This success pushes her to go ahead in her career , when she was nearly on the point to let go.
